Diary of Hana: A Day in the Life of an Asian Girl

School: Learning and Laughter

The school was its usual blend of fun and study. My favorite subject, history, was the first period. Mr. Tanaka’s stories about the Meiji Restoration always fascinate me. During lunch, I sat with my friends Ayumi and Sora. We shared our bento boxes and chatted about the latest manga we’re reading. Ayumi is obsessed with romance manga, while Sora prefers action-packed series. I’m somewhere in between; a good mix of both keeps me entertained.

In the afternoon, we had gym class. We played volleyball, and I managed to score a few points for my team. It’s moments like these, surrounded by friends and laughter, that I cherish the most.

Afternoon: A Serene Escape

After school, I headed to the local park. It’s my favorite spot to unwind and clear my mind. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, painting the park in shades of pink. I sat on a bench, pulled out my sketchbook, and started drawing. Capturing the delicate petals and the way they danced in the breeze was both challenging and therapeutic.

As I sketched, an elderly couple walked by, their hands intertwined. They reminded me of my grandparents, who live in the countryside. I miss them dearly and look forward to our next visit.
