Diary of Mei: An Evening with Asian Movie Dramas

Afternoon: Immersed in Another World

By noon, I was ready. I had a stack of snacks ready: Pocky sticks, green tea mochi, and a bowl of edamame. With my laptop on my lap and my favorite blanket wrapped around me, I began my drama marathon.

First on the list was a popular Korean drama, *Crash Landing on You*. I’d heard so much about it and finally decided to give it a try. The story of a South Korean heiress who accidentally lands in North Korea and falls in love with a North Korean officer was as intriguing as it was heartwarming. I was immediately hooked. The chemistry between the leads was electric, and the mix of romance, comedy, and suspense kept me glued to the screen.

After a few episodes, I took a short break to stretch and grab a drink. I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters and what would happen next. It’s amazing how these dramas can pull you into their world so completely.

Evening: An Emotional Rollercoaster

As the evening approached, I switched to a Japanese drama, *Hana Yori Dango*. The story of an ordinary girl attending an elite school and her encounters with the wealthy and powerful F4 group was both entertaining and touching. The ups and downs of her relationship with the leader of F4 had me laughing, crying, and cheering all at once.

Mom called me for dinner around 7 PM. We had a simple meal of miso soup, grilled fish, and rice. During dinner, I couldn’t help but share the highlights of the dramas I was watching with her. She smiled and listened patiently, probably amused by my enthusiasm.
